Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup of lukewarm water with 1 tablespoon of sugar and let rise until double in size.
Mix together 8 cups of flour and 2 teaspoons of salt in a large mixing bowl.
Beat 6 eggs and 2 cups of sugar together and add to flour.
In a saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup lard in 2 cups of milk over medium heat, let it cool and add to flour.
Add yeast mixture.
Knead until you are able to poke the dough and leave an impression.
Place dough in a clean large bowl, cover with a clean towel and let rise.
Punch down the dough and form individual bread loaves and put them in buttered and floured pans.
Let rise again until dough doubles in size.
Brush top of dough with beaten egg with water.
Bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes (adjust cook time to your oven temperature).
The bread should be golden brown.
