It says to neutralize alkaline soil, add sawdust, woodchips, leaf mold, peat moss, cottonseed meal or pine needles. Working in elemental sulfur or compost or mulch can also help soil that is alkaline due to accumulated salt.
Also says the high alkaline in soil will keep the soil from releasing the nutrients in fertilizer to the plants. Hope this helps.....So get chipping, shred those leaves and get a good compost pile going.
Then work that stuff into the soil around your trees and that should help. I have a wood chipper you could come and borrow.
Just make sure you never use treated wood sawdust or wood chips in your gardens...and never burn it either...it is highly toxic.
