How to Decorate a Basket

Here are four ideas I have seen recently, on different ways to decorate baskets with "gifts from nature"

1. Pansies, lovely purple and yellow ones that had been pressed flat then glued around the middle, outside, of the basket in a straight line. Then the actual growing pansies were inside the basket. Guess this would look good with a range of different dried flowers and glued in different patterns.

2. Pinecones, wired at their base then use the same wire to secure them to the rim of a basket, were arranged in a random pattern (but not sticking up) was a large basket like one that would hold logs. Could make a nice Xmas basket by adding some holly or pine needles or cinnamon sticks to the rim.

3. Bunches of lavendar, say 10 sprigs in a bunch, glued or tied in a circle, to the rim of a basket. Done in anti-clockwise fashion so that the "bulk" of each bunch covers the stalks of the bunch in front of it.

4. Dried moss, the rim of a basket was completely covered in a ring of thick moss, then thread a large needle with raffia and literally sew a pattern across the top of the moss like this: x x x x x x x x x all the way around the rim. You thread the needle through the wicker, under the rim then across the top of the moss to get the x x x pattern, apart from securing the moss,it really looks different!
