Peek-a-Boo Cherry Cake

Ingredients:
- 1/2 c butter or margarine
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 c sugar
- 1/4 c sliced almonds
- 2 c purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/3 c milk
- 1 ea 19oz of Cherry Fruit pie filling
- --- Same ingredients as above but metric: ---
- 1/2 cup of butter or margarine
- softened (125ml)
- 2 tablespoons of sugar (25ml)
- 1 cup of sugar (250ml)
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds (50ml) (optional)
- 2 cups all purpose flour (500ml)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder (15ml)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (1ml)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (5ml)
- 1/3 cup of milk (75ml)
- 1 can (19ounce/540ml) of Cherry Fruit pie filling
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients except fruit pie filling, 2 tablespoons (25ml) sugar and almonds in large bowl.
Blend, then beat for 3 minutes at medium speed.
Spread 3/4 of dough evenly in greased 13x9-inch (3.5L33x21cm) baking pan.
Spoon cherry fruit filling on top and spread gently to cover surface.
Drop remaining dough by small spoonful's over cherry layer.
Sprinkle 2 tablespoons (25ml) sugar and sliced almonds over top.
Bake at 350degrees F. (180C) for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.
